The Bloody Mary Terranean
A roman interpretation
The Bloody Mary has been a part of the St. Regis history since 1934 when bartender Fernand Petiot introduced the “Red Snapper,” which was soon to be known as the Bloody Mary, at the King Cole Bar in The St. Regis New York. The famed cocktail was created when Serge Obolensky, a well known man about town whose penchant for vodka was in keeping with his aristocratic Russian background, asked Petiot to make the vodka cocktail he had in Paris.
The formula was spiced up with salt, pepper, lemon and Worcestershire Sauce, and today each St. Regis around the world celebrates the regional influences of the original recipe.

Our third stay at the St. Regis Rome in the last 12 months was just as magical as the first two. From start to finish, everything was impeccable. After 10 nights touring around Sicily and Calabria we couldn’t come home without spending two nights in Roma before our flight. Upon our arrival, after a 3 ½ hour train ride to Rome, we were welcomed to the hotel by the charming and professional Louise. We had booked an Imperial Room but were upgraded to a beautiful Junior Suite. After being in 4 different hotels, we were so happy to sink into the comfortable beds of the St. Regis Rome. The renovated lobby is extremely elegant and service remains as outstanding as last the last two times! There were also gifts of Prosecco, fruit and biscotti in our room, which we enjoyed. Sit in the lobby and just take in the beauty all around you.
Service is the area that stands out most, and this level should be the barometer for the hotel industry worldwide. Everyone we encountered was professional, friendly and helpful. You could not ask for more.
Breakfast is a truly impressive spread with a chef serving up omelets or eggs of any kind, along with many other delicious choices.
The location is perfect – close to the many main attractions in Rome, and also to Termini Station for day trips. There are taxis readily available right outside the hotel door if you do not want to walk.
We are already planning our fourth visit to Rome and the fabulous St. Regis and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Rome!!!
