Maria Agnese Spagnuolo, professionally known as Fatamorgana, was born in Apulia and spent her childhood and adolescence in a farmhouse outside of the city, in close contact with nature. Together with her family, she grew vegetables for their own use and consumption, but fruit trees were, and still remain, her greatest passion. These included peach, fig, apricot and almond trees, her favourite, which she climbed every day to savour their perfume and flavour.
“The colours and flavours of my land provided a world of discovery, but I was especially attracted to smells. Even today, when creating new combinations, I let smells guide my imagination.”
